Residential roofing

Built to last

Generations of repeat customers.

The work

What goes on
your house.

Every residential roof we do starts the same way: Mark drives out, walks the property, climbs up if it's safe, and writes you a real estimate. No commission-driven sales pitch. No "limited-time special." Just a number on paper and a timeline.

From there, the crew shows up when we said we would. Materials are CertainTeed or Owens Corning unless you specifically want something else. Cleanup is non-negotiable. The job ends when the magnets have swept the lawn for nails twice.

Repairs & maintenance

The roof's mostly fine — a couple shingles blew off, the flashing around the chimney needs help, the ridge vent isn't right. The small jobs nobody else will return your call about.

How to tell

Seven signs
it's time.

Most homeowners ask the wrong question — "is my roof leaking?" — when they should be asking "is my roof still doing its job?" Here's what to actually look for. Free inspection if any of these ring a bell.

Sign 01

Curled or cracked shingles

The edges are lifting, splitting, or curling up like potato chips. The asphalt's tired. Wind will start ripping them next.

Sign 02

Granules in the gutters

The black sandy stuff in the downspouts is your shingles' UV armor. When it's all in the gutter, it's not on the roof.

Sign 03

Dark spots or staining

Algae, moss, water staining. Sometimes cosmetic, sometimes a sign water's getting where it shouldn't.

Sign 04

Missing shingles

If you can see felt or wood from the ground, the field is unprotected and time is short.

Sign 05

Ceiling stains

Brown rings on the ceiling. Bubbling drywall. Water is already inside. Don't wait on this one.

Sign 06

Sagging roofline

A roof that's bowing or dipping along the ridge usually means moisture has compromised the decking underneath. Structural, not cosmetic.

Sign 07

Age

If the last roof was installed when George W. Bush was in office, you're past due. Asphalt shingles last 20–30 years in Illinois weather. Most need attention by 25.

Common questions

The most-asked questions,
answered straight.

How much does a new roof cost in Madison County, Illinois?

Most residential roof replacements in Madison County run between $7,000 and $20,000 depending on size, pitch, and shingle grade. Mark Eck comes out himself and writes you a real number after walking the property.

How long does a residential roof replacement take?

Most single-family homes take one to two days, weather permitting. We strip the old roof down to the deck, lay new underlayment and shingles, then magnet-sweep the lawn twice before we leave.

What kind of shingles do you install?

Primarily CertainTeed (we're ShingleMaster certified and Master Shingle Applicators) and Owens Corning (Preferred Contractor). Architectural asphalt shingles in whatever color you choose. We can install other manufacturers on request.

How long does a new asphalt shingle roof last?

A properly installed architectural shingle roof in Madison County typically lasts 25 to 30 years. A Nextdoor neighbor reported one of ours from the 1990s was still going strong 20+ years later.

Do you handle insurance claims for hail-damaged roofs?

Yes. We document the damage with photos, coordinate directly with your insurance carrier, and walk the adjuster through the claim. We've been doing this in the Metro East since the company opened in 1937.

Are you licensed and insured in Illinois?

Yes. Madison County Roofing is licensed, bonded, and insured in Illinois. Proof of insurance available on request.
